Rite-Hite launches PitMaster Vertical under-leveler seal

New seal keeps contaminants out along bottom edge

Rite-Hite recently launched its PitMaster Vertical, a full-time, pit-mounted under-leveler seal designed for traditional vertical loading dock leveler applications.

Food and beverage operations face increasing pressure to meet stringent food safety and sanitation standards. At the loading dock, even small gaps between a trailer and dock doorway can expose facilities to contaminants, energy loss, and compliance risk.

Rite-Hite said its drive-thru dock designs anchored by a vertical dock leveler can help maintain controlled dock conditions. However, a persistent gap along the pit floor can compromise performance. The new PitMaster Vertical eliminates that gap.

Rite-Hite recently showcased its new PitMaster Vertical and other loading dock safety products at MODEX 2026. The trade show was hosted by MHI April 13-16 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Maintain seal whenever a trailer is docked

Unlike other under-leveler seals that mount to a vertical leveler and engage only when the leveler is lowered into the trailer, PitMaster Vertical remains sealed whether the leveler is stored or in use. Installed directly in the pit, the system closes off the bottom side of dock openings to help block dust, pests, and debris that can compromise sanitation and inspection readiness.

“Food safety extends beyond production areas into the loading dock where product moves in and out of the facility,” said Joe Brooks, Rite-Hite product manager. “PitMaster Vertical helps address a longstanding vulnerability at the dock by maintaining a continuous seal along the pit floor. That consistency supports compliance efforts and gives teams greater confidence during daily operations and inspections.”

Meet food safety requirements

Supporting the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) compliance, along with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)-aligned food safety programs, Rite-Hite said its PitMaster Vertical is ideal for vertical leveler applications commonly found in food and beverage facilities.

When paired with dock shelters that seal the top and sides of the trailer, the complete system helps stabilize interior temperatures and reduce energy loss.

“Compliance depends on repeatable control, not temporary fixes,” Brooks said. “By keeping the dock pit sealed at all times, PitMaster Vertical helps teams manage risk proactively instead of reacting to gaps that appear during normal dock activity.”

Designed for demanding dock conditions, PitMaster Vertical works with most standard vertical dock levelers and supports end-load applications, with easy removal for washdowns. Rite-Hite said its introduction marks another step in expanding the company’s lineup of loading dock products focused on food safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
