ANYmal X Autonomous Industrial Inspection Robot

The autonomous inspection robot built for explosive atmospheres

By Work Safety 24/7 Staff

Bring autonomous inspection into hazardous process areas. The ANYmal X robot from ANYbotics walks the route, captures visual, thermal, and acoustic data, and helps your team track asset condition with less routine human entry.

The challenges of hazardous zone inspections

Most hazardous-area inspections still rely on manual rounds and paper records. Together, they can leave gaps in asset coverage and in the condition data available to reliability and maintenance teams.

Operators face four recurring problems as a result:

  • People safety: Routine exposure to plant hazards
  • Unplanned downtime: Failures develop between checks
  • Knowledge drain: Field knowledge is harder to retain
  • Compliance risks: Inspection records must stand up to review

Autonomous inspection in Ex-Zones

ANYmal X brings autonomous inspection to hazardous process areas. Legged mobility extends coverage beyond the fixed-sensor grid, and its ANYbotics Shift operations platform turns each round into structured asset-condition data.

  • ATEX-certified for Zones 1 and 2: Built and certified to operate safely in explosive atmospheres, enabling fully-autonomous inspection in hazardous process areas. IECEx certification will be available with first production.
  • Walks the full inspection route: The robot can walk inspection routes across narrow pathways, stairs, gratings, and multiple levels, able to reach assets beyond the fixed sensor grid.
  • Captures multi-modal inspection data: Captures visual, thermal and acoustic inspection data. An optional gas-sensing module adds combustible, toxic and atmospheric gas measurements.
  • From an inspection reading to a work order: Builds repeatable asset-condition records for comparison over time and delivers inspection results to CMMS, APM, DCS and enterprise systems through our REST API.
