Zero Electrocution Challenge seeking submissions for inaugural ZERO 2050 challenge

Launched by McElhattan Foundation and administered by Carrot, the Zero Electrocution Challenge is seeking breakthrough ideas that present pathways to help eliminate life-threatening tasks that lead to fatal electrocution on the job by the year 2050.

Eligible participants must first register by Sept. 1 at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

Two winners will receive up to $1 million each.

Electricity powers every aspect of modern work, yet it remains one of the most persistent causes of occupational death. Despite decades of regulations, training, and PPE, workers continue to die from electrical contact.

The Zero Electrocution Challenge is the inaugural ZERO 2050 challenge, envisioning a future where no one gets killed at work. The Zero Electrocution Challenge is seeking to catalyze and advance high-promise ideas that help eliminate life-threatening tasks that lead to fatal electrocution on the job.

Strong proposals for the Zero Electrocution Challenge should be effective, game-changing, feasible, and scalable.

Nonprofits and for-profits based in the United States and U.S. territories with ideas at any stage are encouraged to apply, including those in the research and ideation phase.

The winners will present pathways to eliminate fatal electrocution on the job, while advancing enterprise productivity and profitability.

Zero Electrocution Challenge suggests potential participants complete the readiness tool on its website to help gauge their eligibility and fit for the challenge.

The website also contains resources, FAQs, rules, and a Q&A Webinar with more information, as well as a communications toolkit with a sample email and social media post to help promote the challenge.
