The National Safety Council (NSC) announced the winners of the 2026 New Product Showcase “Best in Show” awards at its 2026 Safety Conference & Expo.
More than 50 companies entered their products, services, and technology in this year’s contest. A total of 6,400 votes were cast.
The Hero Self-Retracting Lifeline (SRL) from Guardian Fall Protection was crowned the winner of this year’s awards. The SRL is designed to deliver maximum freedom of movement with enhanced line-lock performance, providing smooth mobility while helping reduce unnecessary lockups. Hero meets both ANSI and CSA requirements. It features color-coded housings to make identification simple and intuitive: Class 1 models have a black and gray design, while Class 2 models have a gold and black finish.
Taking second place is the Honeywell ModRAE, an advanced gas detector that replaces legacy platforms with a single modular solution. The device supports PID, multi-gas, and future sensing options, with enhanced PID technology delivering greater sensitivity, range, and performance. Swappable cartridges allow flexible configuration, enabling scalable detection, real-time insights and reliable protection across complex industrial and hazardous environments.
Third-place honors go to the 3M DBI-SALA Nano-Lok Edge Anchor Mounted Self-Retracting Lifeline. The SRL is designed for overhead and foot-level leading-edge anchor-mounted applications. It features a pin-locking carabiner for semi-permanent anchoring, a galvanized steel cable lifeline, a nylon thermoplastic housing, and an abrasion-resistant shock pack wear pad for durability. The device includes a patented DBI-SALA snap hook with an impact indicator, ergonomically designed for easy opening and reduced pinch hazard of fingers.
