Sentinel sells Autronica Fire and Security to MSA Safety

Private equity firm Sentinel Capital Partners recently sold Autronica Fire and Security, a standalone unit of its Spectrum Safety Solutions platform, to MSA Safety for $555 million.

Headquartered in Trondheim, Norway, Autronica is a designer, manufacturer, and supplier of fire detection, gas detection, and alarm systems for many critical infrastructure, energy, and maritime applications.

Autronica holds numerous regulatory certifications for harsh environments, with a mission to protect life, environment, and property.

Autronica, Marioff protect against fire & gas on land & sea

Sentinel said it acquired Autronica in 2024 from Carrier Global Corporation as part of a complex carveout that created Spectrum Safety Solutions.

During Sentinel's ownership, Autronica strengthened its global commercial organization, expanded its product portfolio, and further reinforced its leadership in mission-critical fire and gas detection.

In March 2026, Sentinel also agreed to sell Spectrum's Marioff unit, a provider of high-pressure water mist fire suppression systems, to private equity firm Inflexion.

Headquartered in Vantaa, Finland, Marioff serves customers in more than 70 countries across marine segments, such as cruise, navy, and commercial vessels, and land-based segments, including data centers, energy, and industrial facilities.

Its proprietary HI-FOG technology protects life, property, and business continuity in applications where fire risk, uptime requirements, and asset protection are critical.

Spectrum to focus on U.S. headquartered Det-Tronics & Fireye

Sentinel said these two divestitures position Spectrum to focus on its U.S.-headquartered detection and monitoring businesses, Det-Tronics and Fireye.

Sentinel's experience in industrial safety also includes an investment in IEP Technologies, which provides systems and services that suppress, isolate, and vent combustible dust and vapor explosions.

Autronica enables MSA to participate earlier in project design

MSA Safety said it shares Autronica’s long‑term, industrial perspective and a clear ambition to support the company’s continued development as a provider of safety‑critical systems. As part of MSA Safety, Autronica will continue to invest in innovation, technology and competence to support customers operating in highly-regulated and mission‑critical environments.

The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
