Photoneo, a global provider of 3D vision technology and a recent acquisition of Zebra Technologies, announced a collaboration with Jacobi Robotics, a provider of AI-powered robotic automation, to offer warehouse automation technologies.

The partnership combines Photoneo’s high-precision 3D vision systems with Jacobi’s AI-driven robotics software, enabling warehouses to automate complex processes, reduce labor costs and dramatically improve operational efficiency.

The first demonstration of this partnership will be showcased at ProMat 2025 in Booth #E11505. The trade show will be held March 17-20 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Ill.

Warehouse automation moving forward

ProMat 2025 attendees will see a live demonstration of mixed palletizing technology, highlighting how Photoneo’s PhoXi 3D Scanners integrate with Jacobi Robotics’ AI-driven robotic platform to create a fully automated, high-efficiency offering.

The collaboration combines Photoneo’s 3D vision technology with Jacobi Robotics’ proprietary motion planning software, which the companies said results in systems capable of efficiently automating a wide range of challenging warehouse tasks, including palletizing and depalletizing single and mixed SKUs, with or without containers, such as roll cages and Gaylords.

“We’re excited to partner with Photoneo for a range of warehouse automation solutions,” said Yahav Avigal, co-founder and CTO of Jacobi Robotics. “By combining our AI-powered motion planning with Photoneo’s cutting-edge 3D vision, we’re creating systems that not only boost efficiency but also adapt to the ever-changing demands of modern logistics.”

Historically, use cases with mixed palletizing and Gaylords have posed significant automation challenges. But, the companies said the capabilities of Jacobi’s AI-driven robotic platform coupled with Photoneo’s 3D vision systems now make these tasks achievable.

“At Photoneo, we’re committed to solving real-world challenges through innovation,” said Robert Cisar, business development director at Photoneo. “This collaboration with Jacobi Robotics is a perfect example of how advanced technology can deliver tangible benefits, empowering warehouses to operate smarter, faster, and more cost-effectively.”

Advanced mixed palletizing demos at ProMat

At ProMat, visitors will witness a live demonstration featuring Jacobi’s high-speed robotic palletizing system integrated with Photoneo’s PhoXi 3D Scanners. Cases enter through existing warehouse workflows - including manual picking or cross-docking - and pass through a compact robotic buffer that dynamically sequences them for optimal pallet building.

Jacobi Robotics’ AI software then directs industrial robot arms to rapidly build stable mixed pallets, significantly increasing throughput and reducing manual labor. The companies highlighted the following benefits of the combined offering:

  • Increased throughput: Accelerate outbound shipments with a system capable of handling up to 1,000 cases per hour.
  • Improved order accuracy: Precise object recognition and optimized stacking patterns minimize errors, reduce costly returns and improve pallet stability.
  • Enhanced safety and ergonomics: Automating physically demanding tasks protects workers from injury and enables redeployment to higher-value roles.
  • Enhanced operational flexibility: The system integrates with existing workflows and scales with business growth.

Faster deployment: Designed for quick setup and reconfiguration, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
