Sitema Safety Catchers by Advanced Machine and Engineering (AME) are clamping devices that mount around shafts to decelerate, stop, and support falling vertical loads, preventing personnel injury or equipment damage.
Encased in each housing is a series of wedged clamping jaws, each with one slide lining and one brake lining. During normal machine function, hydraulic or pneumatic pressure is applied to the plunger, forcing it upward and compressing the spring at the top of the jaw.
The jaws are held in a raised position so the shaft can move freely. If a loss of pressure releases the plungers, the spring biases the clamping jaws to engage, decelerating and stopping the falling load, providing a safety factor ranging between 2:1 and 4:1.
Hennig is the exclusive North American provider of Sitema clamping units and linear brakes that act on round rods.
Sitema's products can equip machinery with devices that automatically secure loads during power loss, provide redundant safety for vertical axes, and deliver precise locking for positioning tasks. From preventing a press ram from free-falling to holding a robotic arm in exact position, Sitema covers a wide range of applications where uncontrolled movement is not an option.

Advanced Machine & Engineering (AME) provides precision machining, automation, and engineering services to a diverse range of industries.
