UK-based AI and robotics startup Humanoid, released a new teaser video offering what the company said is a glimpse into its vision for a near future where humanoid robots seamlessly coexist with humans in everyday environments.
The teaser, seen above, highlights the company’s mission to transcend physical tasks by building commercially scalable, reliable and safe humanoid robots - moving beyond research and into daily life.
The video launch represents a major milestone for Humanoid: the debut of its alpha prototype is scheduled for later this year. This first model will focus on wheeled and bipedal platforms and pick-and-place use cases, targeting applications across logistics, retail and manufacturing.
“Unlike many other humanoid robotics companies, we're developing Humanoid with a focus on solving actual problems with practical, market-ready solutions rather than just doing research in the lab,” said Artem Sokolov, founder of Humanoid. “I believe we’re entering a new era where robots will work with humans, handling repetitive tasks. This is the main reason I started Humanoid in the first place: to free people from hard and monotonous tasks.”
Founded in 2024, Humanoid has grown into a global team of over 130 employees, with offices in London, Boston and Vancouver. The company is currently developing its first general-purpose humanoid robot HMND 01 to perform complex tasks across various use cases and industries.
In addition to the video teaser, the company has also named Jarad Cannon as CTO.
In this role, he will lead the company’s technological advancements, integrate cross-functional teams and ensure collaboration between development and business strategy.
“Our approach prioritizes making robots both affordable and immediately deployable in real-world settings. We're starting with a wheeled platform because it can reach the market faster and it's in higher demand right now: for example, in logistics, over 80% of use cases can be addressed with this type of platform,” Cannon said.
With over 13 years in robotics and AI focused on delivering scalable, real-world products and running cross-functional engineering teams, Humanoid said Cannon brings strong applied industry knowledge and a deep understanding of market needs. Prior to joining Humanoid, he served as CTO at Brain Corp, a robotics automation partner. Before Brain Corp, Cannon spent six years at iRobot as a software engineer.
"I'm excited to join Humanoid at this unique moment,” Cannon said. “Compute, data and frontier AI are finally powerful enough to breathe true intelligence into machines, while macro trends such as rising labor costs, workforce shortages and declining birth rates, create ideal conditions for robotics adoption. We have the rare combination of timing, world-class talent and technology to make humanoid robotics real, at scale, starting now.”
