Electrical components provider Wieland Electric is proud to announce that its samos PRO MOTION controller was recently selected as the Gold winner in the control systems category of the Plant Engineering 2025 Product of the Year awards program.
The company said this award highlights the samos PRO MOTION controller’s innovation, performance, and contribution to advancing industrial automation and safety.
Designed for high-performance motion control and functional safety, the samos PRO delivers powerful real-time capabilities for a wide range of applications including robotics, packaging, and material handling systems.
“The samos PRO MOTION exemplifies our commitment to developing intuitive, integrated solutions that meet the evolving needs of industrial automation,” said Diego Arias, Wieland Electric Americas product manager for automation. “This recognition validates our vision of promoting functional safety in the industrial space.”
The samos PRO MOTION is an all-in-one safety controller that seamlessly integrates advanced motion functionality.
Motion sensors provide pulses during movement. Samos PRO MOTION converts those pulses to speed, angle, position, and direction measurements, and motion functions compare current values with limits. If an allowed limit or range is exceeded − controllers can safely stop a motor, lock and/or unlock doors, and/or activate alarms.
Equipped with six TÜV-certified motion function blocks, it reduces the need for additional modules by up to 60%, freeing up valuable space in the control cabinet. It can accept four fast safe motion inputs up to 70kHz.
Motion safety functions integrated in accordance with EN 61800-5-2 include:
This compact, programmable controller supports safe standstill monitoring for vertical and slow-moving axes with configurable speed and position windows.
It also features an anti-vibration toolbox designed to mitigate both macro and micro vibrations, ensuring greater stability and precision in motion-critical applications.
The samos PRO MOTION offers safety protection up to SIL3 and Cat4/PLE, with increased safety level through redundancy and shaft break detection.
