Automation Enables Continued Growth for Master Electronics

Automation Enables Continued Growth for Master Electronics

When steady growth in inventory and sales threatened the company’s ability to execute with speed and flexibility, Riad Nizam, CEO of electronics distributor Master Electronics, relied on the company’s entrepreneurial spirit to find a solution. After exploring multiple automation technologies and integration partners, Master Electronics selected Swisslog to implement an AutoStore system with SynQ software. That solution has increased productivity, expanded capacity, and positioned the company for continued growth.

A time study conducted by Blomgren found that 40% of a picker’s time was spent walking to the next pick location. That led Blomgren and his team to explore goods-to-person automation. The company vetted multiple technologies and was most impressed with the AutoStore system.

Working collaboratively, Swisslog and Master Electronics configured the AutoStore solution based on Master Electronics inventory and business requirements. The AutoStore solution at Master Electronics, which was installed in the company’s existing distribution center, features 80,190 bins and 35 robots.
