Palmer Wahl: Heat Spy 170 Thermal Imaging Camera

Thermal imager draws attention to areas requiring further review

By Palmer Wahl
September 2, 2015

The ultra-high sensitivity Heat Spy 170 thermal imaging camera by Palmer Wahl offers a thermal view setting that reveals only the temperatures above or below a given set point.

Ideal for electricians, plumbers, building inspectors and facility managers, this function overlays the thermal signature on a visible light image to emphasize temperatures of interest and areas requiring further assessment. A thermal and visible video recording feature documents temperature surveys in any of the imager’s four viewing modes, storing files on the included 8-gigabyte SD card.

For file transfer, the device has integrated Bluetooth connectivity and can be paired with a headset to record and play back audio image annotations hands-free. Other highlights include a 384 x 288 pixel detector, a 3.6-inch LCD touchscreen display, 25 x 19 degree field of view, and integrated dual LED bulbs that can be used as a flashlight when needed in low-light conditions.
