ELOKON featured its new ELOshieldAI, an advanced safety system that combines tag-based proximity detection with AI-powered vision detection, at MODEX 2026.

The trade show was hosted by MHI April 13-16 in Atlanta, Georgia.

ELOshieldAI can deliver a dual-layer, comprehensive collision prevention system for forklifts and other material handling equipment.

The system can be installed on nearly any new or existing material handling equipment and customized to the needs of warehouses, industrial sites, and logistics hubs, even those with cluttered layouts, complex workflows, or low-visibility conditions.

“Keeping employees safe while protecting expensive equipment is of utmost importance for any facility,” said Alex Glasmacher, ELOKON CEO. “With ELOshieldAI, operators can rely on on-body pedestrian alerts from UWB-based [ultra-wideband] badges for high-precision detection, tagless AI-camera detection that identifies and analyzes pedestrian behavior in real time, or a combination of both. Together, these technologies create an intelligent, fail-safe approach to safety for both pedestrians and the forklifts.”

Features include alerts, slowdowns, & analytics

By integrating ELOKON’s ELOshield (UWB-based tagged) and ELOvision (AI-based vision) platforms, ELOshieldAI delivers:

  • Up to 360 Degree Visibility: Multiple onboard cameras eliminate blind spots and provide real-time video feeds to enhance operator awareness. Advanced AI-powered visibility improves safety and high-traffic, complex environments.
  • Proactive Collision Prevention: Visual, audible, and automatic slowdown warnings with direct wireless communications help avoid truck-to-truck and truck-to-pedestrian incidents by reducing false alarms from static objects and improving inter-vehicle awareness. Additionally, ELOshieldAI enables dynamic zone monitoring, accurately detecting trucks entering or leaving designated safety zones such as pedestrian aisles or intersections, and triggering automated alerts or slowdowns.
  • Vehicle Control Integration: The system adapts forklift behavior, including speed reduction or braking, during high-risk situations.
  • Near-Miss Analytics: The system uses the detailed detection and logging of near-collision events - captured by fused AI vision and UWB data - to uncover patterns, prevent accidents, and make workplaces safer by turning close calls into insights.

Three educational seminars at MODEX

In addition to ELOshieldAI, ELOKON demonstrated at MODEX:

  • ELOfusion - a single, integrated environmental warning and fleet management system designed to improve safety and productivity for forklift fleets in warehouses, distribution centers and manufacturing facilities. ELOfusion combines ELOKON’s UWB-based ELOshield proximity detection system and the fleet management platform ELOfleet.
  • ELOvision - AI-based environmental warning system leveraging a camera to provide an intelligent alternative to the UWB-based ELOshield.

In addition to the technology demonstrations, Glasmacher presented three seminars exploring the impact of sensor data fusion technology on the material handling industry. Each seminar, titled “How Sensor Data Fusion is Enabling New and Transformative Forklift Safety and Fleet Management Products,” dove into the critical importance of forklift safety and effective fleet management, focusing on how the integration of advanced sensor technologies helps merge these systems into a single product.

Attendees learned how:

  • Sensor data fusion is driving the adoption of smart forklift fleet and pedestrian safety systems for safer, more efficient operations
  • Infrastructure-free real-time location (RTL) and digital twins for warehouse safety are impacting operations
  • Combining proximity detection systems with forklift fleet telematics can shift the industry from reactive impact recording to proactive collision avoidance
