TotalTrax: Collision avoidance system

Avoid indoor vehicle collisions with patented system

By 24/7 Staff
April 10, 2013

To prevent collisions between driven and automated vehicles operating in the same building, a patented collision avoidance system by TotalTrax keeps track of the location, direction and speed of all tracked vehicles operating in a facility.

By rapidly performing trajectory calculations in real time for each vehicle, the system determines the probability of collision based on vehicle capabilities and the potential for interaction.

The method establishes a safe zone around each vehicle by sending stop, slow down or turn commands to automated vehicles while simultaneously alerting the operator of driven vehicles to take action.
